What is Geo-Fencing & why is it better than Google?

Never heard of Geo-Fencing? The best-kept secret of Marketing

Do you spend thousands of dollars a month on Google? Do you receive quality leads? Are your leads from Google intended for the services you provide? Do you waste a lot of money on Google for an unpredictable outcome? I have a feeling your answer is “yes” to all.

For years I spent thousands of dollars on Google to build my business. Although I did generate a lot of leads, I also wasted a lot of money. As people would fill out our lead “form” while not reading what the form said. So, we wasted a lot of time and money to have conversations with people who did not fit my target audience or who had no idea why we were calling.

This is when I was introduced to Geo-Fencing and my return on investment skyrocketed.  Geo-fencing advertising is a location-based marketing technique that uses GPS, RFID, Wi-Fi, or cellular data to create virtual boundaries around a specific geographic area or a targeted audience.

When potential customers enter this “geo-fenced” zone with their smartphones or other devices, they may receive targeted ads or videos from a business that targeted the area or demographic. Furthermore, using AI driven Databases, businesses are able to filter search criteria and target specific audiences. For example, “Veterinarians within 20 miles of Burbank, CA” or “People interested in Solar Panels within 50 miles of Las Vegas, NV”.

The target audience can be filtered by age, income, profession, interest, type of business and more. Unlike Google, you are targeting the customer you want and not advertising to the people you don’t want to target. This reduces waste of advertising money and the time it takes to follow-up on these leads.

How do the customers see your advertisement? An Ad with a landing page would be created prior to the campaign launch. After the target data has been captured your Ad would show up via thousands of website sources such as ESPN.com and MSN.com for example. Once your target audience clicks on the Ad they will be forwarded to your landing page. The target is expected to see your Ad about 20 times a month. Video can also be used via YouTube, Hulu and more.

Here’s how it can benefit small businesses:

  1. Highly Targeted Marketing: Small businesses can focus their advertising efforts on people in their immediate vicinity or those visiting nearby competitors, ensuring they reach a highly relevant audience. This also helps with your sales process as you will be having consistent and productive conversations.
  2. Cost-Effective Advertising: By targeting a specific area, businesses can optimize their marketing budgets and avoid spending on broader campaigns that might not yield local engagement. Cost range from $500 and up to as much as you would like. Data would be presented to the business owner prior to launching the campaign. The data would have a budget associated with the campaign and the cost would not exceed the budget.
  3. Increased Foot Traffic: Sending real-time offers or promotions to people near the business location can entice them to visit, driving more in-store or on-site traffic. Also, this can help with post visit follow-up for high priced items. Yes, you can target specific tradeshows and insure Ad visibility of all attendees.
  4. Customer Engagement: Personalized and timely messages improve customer experience and strengthen the connection between the business and its local community. Basically, you will follow the lead via advertising while the lead is “Hot”
  5. Data Insights: Geo-fencing campaigns provide valuable data, such as foot traffic patterns and customer behavior, enabling businesses to refine their strategies for better results.

For example, a small café could set up a geo-fence around nearby offices and send lunch specials to employees passing through during their break hours. It’s a smart way to connect with the right people at the right time. If you are interested in this service, please reach out to us via email at [email protected].
